A New Beginning...

Friday was my last day at Merrill Lynch and it was so difficult. I kept kicking myself for crying b/c I have known my days were numbered. I put my notice in back in November...but leaving Merrill Lynch was probably one of the hardest decisions I have ever made.
I can honestly admit that I was not the girl who dreamed of being a stay at home mom. I wanted to be a "working girl". I loved the challenge, interaction with others, and environment of working. So, when we found out we were pregnant, I thought, "Ok, no biggie...we have dogs and I leave them during the day. How much different can it be?" (I know my son is not like a dog, I just thought I could detach myself during the day while I was at work and everything would be fine.)
I felt this way until I held him in my arms for the first time. What a rush of emotion that was...I knew I wanted to be with him as much as possible. I have never felt an immediate love for someone like I did when I first held Kai. My life has never been the same since.
I loved my job at Merrill more than I can describe. (I have a huge lump in my throat just thinking about it). Merrill was a blessing...everything about it was.
As much as I am going to miss my job, I am going to miss everyone there more. I have four brothers and always wanted a sister. I used to pray for a sister...little did I know that my prayers would be answered about 22 years later. Now I have several sisters. Ones that I love more than anything. I am going to miss seeing them on a daily basis, and hearing all the stories about their lives. We have laughed and cried together.
Moving to Colorado has been difficult, b/c it is hard to find real, consistent friends. I found true friends at Merrill Lynch and it broke my heart to leave.
They say when one door closes, another opens...Here's to a new beginning...

Kai's 6 Month Photo's

Kai had his 6 month photo's taken this afternoon and I love them. I have such a great experience everytime I go to the Picture People. I know some of my friends have vowed to never go there again b/c of bad experiences, but I absolutely love them. I had a ton of pictures to choose from this time, but I chose the ones that reflect the types of faces me makes. Kai has several faces that we see on a regular basis and I am so glad we got some on camera. Also, the picture with the blanket in his mouth...he is so orally fixated on things that I thought it would be appropriate to purchase it.
I scanned the pictures in so they might look dusty if enlarged...

The manager was there tonight and asked if we would let them display a couple of pictures of Makai in thier store. They really liked the cowboy hat one and I think that is the one they want to display. So I signed the child model form. They said they are anxious for Kai to return so they can choose from more pictures. It was so fun!!! The pictures could be up for like 6-9 months.
Stop by the store and see pictures of Makai!

Practice better make perfect...Feeding Kai can be so frustrating at times. Sometimes I wonder if he spits everything out...We both need practice though. It is hard to feed a moving object!

Kai'S FiRST FeeDiNG

Kai had his six month check-up today and has a mild ear infection in his right ear...poor guy. He is still getting over his sinus infection!
The doctor cleared us for solids today so we fed Kai some carrots. He was not a fan. It was so funny. I will see if I can get some of the video downloaded soon....but for now, enjoy the pictures.

Kai LOVES Grandma Lundeen

Kai absolutely adores my mom. She is such a support for me...I honestly don't know how people have babies without thier moms.
Today we were out shopping and Kai has been kind of backed up (b/c he has been sick), so I knew it was coming...well we came out of a store and I noticed that his shorts were wet...When I looked closer, they were not just wet, he had blown through his entire outfit...It was everywhere. Well, I stood there trying to figure out how to change him without getting it everywhere. My mom pushed me aside and just started changing him while I ran into a store and bought him another outfit, since the one he was wearing was so gross. She didn't complain a bit, and I didn't complain b/c we got a new outfit for him...
I depend on her for so much, and call her at least 3 times a day to gab or ask questions...She is my best friend.
Mom, I love you!!!

Teething at 6 Months

Nothin' like a metal arm rest to sooth a teething baby.
Yes, it is official. Kai is now teething. I think I have been in denial for quite sometime now, but here is the proof...

Anything he can get his hands on go in his mouth and he chews on it.
Note~This is my moms chair at her house. I have had a few people ask me if this is some random chair at a restaurant...Gross!

Visiting the San Antonio Temple

We visited the San Antonio Temple today. It is probably one of my favorite temples now. BEAUTIFUL!
I should have taken more pictures of the temple...

Great-Grandma Lundeen and Joseph holding Makai

My mom and I with Makai outside of the temple. This picture was taken right before we took Kai to the Urgent Care Center. He looks so stoned. His eyes (usually big) look so small in this picture b/c of his sinus infection.

Great-Grandma Lundeen

Kai just loves Great-Grandma Lundeen!
Isn't she beautiful?

URGENT CARE CENTER

Yes, we had our first visit to the urgent care center today. Here we are in San Antonio for a vacation and Kai is so fussy. He didn't sleep very well at all last night, has a horribly runny nose, gunk is coming out of his eyes, and he has a low grade fever.
Everyone I talked to said he is probably just teething. I called my Dr's office anyway. They suggested I go to the urgent care center b/c it didn't sound like teething.
Better safe than sorry. So we opted to go to the center to get checked out. Turns out Kai has Sinusitus. He even has some fluid in his ear but it is not an ear infection...yet.
I guess it's not a true vacation unless someone gets hurt or sick...

The weather was beautiful at the River Walk today! We still had to wear sweaters b/c of the cold wind though.

We took a tour on one of the barges today. It was a blast...even though our tour guide was a BYU fan.

Dad's 60th Birthday Party!

We had so much fun at Dad's birthday party. I wish I would have taken more pictures of all the family though...

Whale of a Time...

We are in San Antonio for my Dad's 60th Bithday pary and hit up Sea World.

Shamu is HUGE!!!

WaTChiN HaLO

I love this picture of Makai. I was making cookies and asked Ben to watch/entertain Makai while I was busy. Ben was playing Halo (shocking) and when I peeked around the corner to see how Kai was doing, this is what I found. It's a good thing watching Halo hasn't given him bad dreams...

Just Me and My Dad

Kai loves his daddy so much. They love to watch TV together.
Ben always knows exactly what to do to get a smile on Kai's face.
