...Where a Kid Can Be a Kid...

We took a quick trip to Utah recently for my niece, Aspen's baptism. I haven't been to a baptism in quite some time and it was wonderful. I loved feeling the undeniable spirit that was there. My parents were there for the event so we got to see a lot of family. We had such a great time but were so relieved to come home. It was just one of those trips where we were, "go, go, go" the entire time. It was exhausting. Kai wasn't able to nap throughout the trip b/c we were too active....poor guy. He had a couple of meltdowns, but survived. It was so fun to see him interact with cousins and friends he hadn't seen in a long time.
It is so strange going back to Utah. I just feel like I am still a college student. I guess I felt like time stood still since we moved. I was quickly reminded that things are different just by looking down at my growing baby bump.
Here are some pictures from the trip...
Kai with Grandma and Grandpa Lundeen just after Aspen's baptism.~

I have two brothers that live in Utah. We all went to Chucky Cheese after the baptism and let the kiddos run wild. This isn't the best picture of the family, but what can you expect after several hours in Chucky Cheese?~

The following pictures show just how happy Kai was to be at Chucky Cheese.
...Poor guy really needed a nap!~

Kai playing games with Daddy.~

We didn't have a lot of free time since it was such a quick trip. There are so many people that we wanted to see and weren't able to. However, Ben did get to squeeze in a game of golf and I got to hit up IKEA. After we had our fun, we met up with some friends for a quick dinner. It was wonderful to see some familiar faces and friends we love so much. We miss you guys more than we can express.
The Hendry's~

The Cole's (minus Alexa)~

The Young's.~

ReaDY oR NoT.....

So, we moved the wall mobile and letters this weekend, bought a little microfiber covered ottoman that Kai can use to climb up on to help him reach his bed, and put up a bed rail...
Saturday night Kai said goodbye to his crib!
Ben and I were...terrified! Kai actually did quite well though. I only had to put him back in his bed once on Saturday night and last night he just stayed in bed.
Nap time...now that is a totally different story. I am afraid it is the end of the three hour nap. We'll see though. It is a work in progress.

..."THe FiRST CuT iS THe DeePeST..."

Kai is 17 months old and has never had or needed a haircut (in my opinion). Ben has been trying and trying to talk me into giving him one, and when we got back from our trip to Utah, I gave in. I think I was putting it off b/c he really doesn't have that much hair. It has taken him so long to get any really, so I was nervous about cutting it at all.
Here is the before picture. He has a few long grandpa pieces in the back behind his ears. The only real long hair he had was on the very top of his head.

Making the first cut....I was so sad. I kept a little lock for his baby book though.

This was taken right after the first cut. No more long spike....

Then Daddy took over for the rest of the haircut...
Kai was perfectly content the entire time and played with his new bubble toy from Grandma and Grandpa Lundeen.

After~
...A New Man...

Ok, ok, so he did need a haircut...I will admit it does look better. Good job, Benny!!!

Kai's Big Boy Room...

So with the new baby coming, we decided it was time to move Kai to a big boy bed. (We just didn't want to have to buy another crib for fear that Kai will start climbing out anyway.)
We looked at a few twin beds and couldn't really decide....then started searching craigslist and found a cute captains bed. The bedrooms in our home are small so the extra storage underneath the bed is awesome. A couple months later, (from a different seller in a different part of town), we found the matching dresser for sale. YAY!!!
So, Kai has a bed and a dresser! His old crib and baby furniture are already in his sister's room. He will be sleeping (hopefully) in his new bed this week!!!
View of Kai's room from his door~

His big boy bed. We will be putting up a bed rail so he doesn't fall out~

Dresser~

The last thing we need to do before Kai can sleep in his new bed is switch walls for the letters for his name and the wall mobile (above his bed). I am afraid Kai will pull his wall mobile down b/c he will be able to reach it standing on his bed.

I guess we do need to get a little stepping stool to help in get in this tall bed too.

Flight of the Conchords...

So we just got back from Utah visiting some family and friends (I will post pictures soon). While we were there we were introduced to a few YouTube videos by Flight of the Conchords. I LOVE THEM!
Why have I not heard of this group until now??? They are hilarious! They have so many funny songs, but this one seriously made me laugh out loud! I love the "sexy" faces he makes in this video.
ENJOY!!!

This is another hilarious one!!!
The lyrics are just out there.

eMBRaCiNG PiNK...

Ben took a few days off this weekend and I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to get a project done.
YAY for Honey Do Lists!!!
So, I decided we should tackle painting the little girls room. (Little did I know that Ben was going to make me wear a mask the entire time I was around paint fumes). But, other than the mask it was a blast and I am so happy with the way the room turned out.
We have moved our guest room to the basement so both kiddos will be upstairs with us. So, our task over the weekend was to paint the guest room to look like our girls room. I have already bought the bedding and it is pink, black, and white. I decided to paint the room pink and then will decorate with black and white accents. I went with a really pale pink (almost white) in an eggshell finish and then went one shade darker and bought that in a semi-gloss. I told Ben I wanted stripes and away he went. He was such a hard worker and everything turned out exactly like it was in my head.
THANKS BABE!!!
Sorry for the awful lighting in the pictures below.
This is the room before we started painting.

Right when we first started painting...(you can tell b/c Ben still has a smile on his face.)

This is the room after the first coat of paint.
Even though it is a light shade, you can still totally tell it is pink.

Kai was not in the room while we were painting. He did come in to check it out after he woke up from his nap and the first coat was on though.

Like father, like son....
I love these two pictures. Kai loves to mimic us. Whether I am wiping something up, or Ben is measuring something, Kai wants to help. He is so cute!!!

This is right before we started painting...taping all these lines took a bit of time...and a bit of math.

Benny, hard at work.

Can't really see a difference in the paint color yet huh?

After

Here I am...almost 26 weeks along.
My belly is getting bigger!

Next project on the list....
Curtains!

WHeRe'S YouR NoSe???

I have been teaching Kai what different things are called...bellybutton, nose, ears, etc...
He usually points to whatever I am talking about, but this is what happens when I ask him where his nose is.
GROSS!
When I tell him that is yucky and we don't do that, he just sticks his finger in further...awesome.

So, I am done teaching Kai where his nose is.

"...We're Hooked Up With The Love Cause We Grow It...."

Went to the doctor yesterday for my 24 week appointment. Had another ultrasound to check my cervix and I am fine. I am still having contractions, but that is just the way this pregnancy goes I guess...better get used to it.
They did another sex check since last time she had her ankles crossed and we couldn't get a clear shot.
I will be the first to admit....I WAS WRONG AND EVERYONE WAS RIGHT.
We ARE having a girl!!! It has taken two confirmations for me to truly believe it, but it's true. Bring on the pink.
The last picture is the one where you can tell it's a girl. The ultrasound tech put a circle around the girl part b/c I still couldn't see it. Denial is a crazy thing...

Don't get me wrong. I am so excited to have a little girl. I want a girl.
But when you have 4 brothers and no sisters, anything pink can be intimidating. Girly stuff is intimidating. I just need to get over it and jump on in. Maybe we will paint the room pink this weekend!!!
