Kai's Big Boy Room...

So with the new baby coming, we decided it was time to move Kai to a big boy bed. (We just didn't want to have to buy another crib for fear that Kai will start climbing out anyway.)
We looked at a few twin beds and couldn't really decide....then started searching craigslist and found a cute captains bed. The bedrooms in our home are small so the extra storage underneath the bed is awesome. A couple months later, (from a different seller in a different part of town), we found the matching dresser for sale. YAY!!!
So, Kai has a bed and a dresser! His old crib and baby furniture are already in his sister's room. He will be sleeping (hopefully) in his new bed this week!!!
View of Kai's room from his door~

His big boy bed. We will be putting up a bed rail so he doesn't fall out~

Dresser~

The last thing we need to do before Kai can sleep in his new bed is switch walls for the letters for his name and the wall mobile (above his bed). I am afraid Kai will pull his wall mobile down b/c he will be able to reach it standing on his bed.

I guess we do need to get a little stepping stool to help in get in this tall bed too.

Flight of the Conchords...

So we just got back from Utah visiting some family and friends (I will post pictures soon). While we were there we were introduced to a few YouTube videos by Flight of the Conchords. I LOVE THEM!
Why have I not heard of this group until now??? They are hilarious! They have so many funny songs, but this one seriously made me laugh out loud! I love the "sexy" faces he makes in this video.
ENJOY!!!

This is another hilarious one!!!
The lyrics are just out there.

eMBRaCiNG PiNK...

Ben took a few days off this weekend and I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to get a project done.
YAY for Honey Do Lists!!!
So, I decided we should tackle painting the little girls room. (Little did I know that Ben was going to make me wear a mask the entire time I was around paint fumes). But, other than the mask it was a blast and I am so happy with the way the room turned out.
We have moved our guest room to the basement so both kiddos will be upstairs with us. So, our task over the weekend was to paint the guest room to look like our girls room. I have already bought the bedding and it is pink, black, and white. I decided to paint the room pink and then will decorate with black and white accents. I went with a really pale pink (almost white) in an eggshell finish and then went one shade darker and bought that in a semi-gloss. I told Ben I wanted stripes and away he went. He was such a hard worker and everything turned out exactly like it was in my head.
THANKS BABE!!!
Sorry for the awful lighting in the pictures below.
This is the room before we started painting.

Right when we first started painting...(you can tell b/c Ben still has a smile on his face.)

This is the room after the first coat of paint.
Even though it is a light shade, you can still totally tell it is pink.

Kai was not in the room while we were painting. He did come in to check it out after he woke up from his nap and the first coat was on though.

Like father, like son....
I love these two pictures. Kai loves to mimic us. Whether I am wiping something up, or Ben is measuring something, Kai wants to help. He is so cute!!!

This is right before we started painting...taping all these lines took a bit of time...and a bit of math.

Benny, hard at work.

Can't really see a difference in the paint color yet huh?

After

Here I am...almost 26 weeks along.
My belly is getting bigger!

Next project on the list....
Curtains!

WHeRe'S YouR NoSe???

I have been teaching Kai what different things are called...bellybutton, nose, ears, etc...
He usually points to whatever I am talking about, but this is what happens when I ask him where his nose is.
GROSS!
When I tell him that is yucky and we don't do that, he just sticks his finger in further...awesome.

So, I am done teaching Kai where his nose is.

"...We're Hooked Up With The Love Cause We Grow It...."

Went to the doctor yesterday for my 24 week appointment. Had another ultrasound to check my cervix and I am fine. I am still having contractions, but that is just the way this pregnancy goes I guess...better get used to it.
They did another sex check since last time she had her ankles crossed and we couldn't get a clear shot.
I will be the first to admit....I WAS WRONG AND EVERYONE WAS RIGHT.
We ARE having a girl!!! It has taken two confirmations for me to truly believe it, but it's true. Bring on the pink.
The last picture is the one where you can tell it's a girl. The ultrasound tech put a circle around the girl part b/c I still couldn't see it. Denial is a crazy thing...

Don't get me wrong. I am so excited to have a little girl. I want a girl.
But when you have 4 brothers and no sisters, anything pink can be intimidating. Girly stuff is intimidating. I just need to get over it and jump on in. Maybe we will paint the room pink this weekend!!!

'I'm tOO sExy fOr my dIApEr'

Kai was being so quiet today during nap time. He usually wakes up at 3 and calls for me, but today he was just playing. When I went up to check on him, this is what I found.
Lesson Learned~
I can no longer put Kai down for his nap wearing only a diaper.
(To save you all the jokes, I am talking about Kai wearing a diaper...not me.)
I know Julie would have teased me about that.

Isn't that the cutest little bum you have ever seen?
So, Kai is now too sexy for his bib and diaper. What's next?

"whOOp thErE It Is..."

So my belly has definitely popped out recently. It gets a little bigger every week now. Since I got so much flack from my last post of pregnancy pics, I thought everyone would be happy to see my belly has grown...let's all be honest...girls enjoy seeing each other get fat. So enjoy pictures of me into my 22nd week!
I guess there is no denying it, I am getting bigger. The funny thing is I am showing later than I did with Kai. Everyone I talk to says you start showing earlier and earlier with each pregnancy, but when I look back at pictures of my pregnancy with Kai I was much bigger then. Maybe I am a late bloomer this time around...don't want to jinx myself b/c I am sure I will be HUGE!!!
It was such a nice day so I asked Ben to take my picture outside. After looking at the picture I realized that it is a horrible picture b/c our backyard is dead at the moment. Don't mind the dead scenery! :)

After Ben took the first picture he asked me to turn a bit more and said, "You look bigger when you turn more to the side."
So, here is a side shot... b/c every girl wants to look "bigger". :)

Where Da Party At?

Another fun night at dinner... I had applesauce all over me at the end of the night. My how Kai's spitting has evolved. He is now working on projectile spitting.

If you didn't know this by now, I am hilarious. (At least Kai thinks so.)
He was a bit hyper at dinner tonight. It was a party, what can I say?

Where is Kai's bib?, you ask. Kai is on a bib strike as of late.

a LiTTLe GiRL!!!

We went to the Dr yesterday to find out the sex of #2. The baby had it's ankles crossed the entire time and the ultrasound tech could not get a peek. After much poking, pushing, and prodding the tech gave up and sent me in to meet with the Dr. After the Dr appointment we were sent back in to the ultrasound room for another try...hoping the baby had moved around a bit and we could finally see.
NOPE! Baby still had it's legs crossed. When I had given up, all of a sudden the tech said, "GIRL!"
It is hard to see in the ultrasound picture, but supposedly there are some white lines which mean girl. The only thing I know for a fact, is I didn't see a penis. :)
With Kai, it was so obvious. This one, I still wonder b/c it is still fuzzy. I go back in 4 weeks for another cervix check and they said to ease my mind they would check again for the sex.
So for now, Ben and I are narrowing down a name...let me take that back. For now, I am still brainstorming for names and Ben is still vetoing most of them. There is one name that he said, "Is growing on him." I will keep my fingers crossed that he sees the light. :)
The ultrasound tech did say she was sure it is a girl. I guess I am in denial? I am so excited to have a girl, but am so used to the boy thing. I keep looking at Kai thinking he is so easy...I guess I am afraid girls are harder. She definitely was stubborn during the ultrasound. Kai was spread eagle, kinda like, "Check me out." I joke around about Kai's ultrasound b/c it was so obvious. I told everyone that I was either having a boy or a three legged child! He is 100% boy and I love him with all of my heart.

Here are some pictures or our little prima donna. The last picture is the one where you can see white lines...supposedly.

So, what do you think? Is it obvious to everyone but me???

I have had some friends call and ask for some prego pics...
Ugh...
I didn't take a picture last night, but this picture was taken 2 weeks ago when I was 18 weeks along. I have gotten bigger since then, but this is the most recent prego pic we have.
Enjoy!

When Daddy Comes Home...

Kai gets so excited when Daddy comes home from work. He usually hears the garage door open and starts banging on the door waiting for Ben to walk in.
Ben usually wrestles around with Kai and Kai runs to me to save him...(squealing and laughing the entire time.) It is a riot. I filmed a bit of the cat and mouse game from earlier this week.

Braxton Hicks Contractions @ 18 Weeks

I try to be the type of pregnant girl who doesn't complain. The other day in church a friend of mine asked Ben how I was doing with my pregnancy and he replied, "Fine, I guess. Maybe I should ask her."
I know that braxton hicks contractions are totally normal and nothing to worry about. I had these same contractions with Kai, but NOT this early. I started having contractions last week and feeling a bit of pressure, so I called the Dr and they asked me to come in ASAP. (Not exactly what you want to hear from your Dr. I thought they would tell me not to worry and that I was overreacting.)
Anyway, so I went in and they took some ultrasounds and measures my cervix. Everything looks good, my cervix is measuring "normal" but on the short side of normal. I guess I am dehydrated and need to take it easy. (Try that with a 1 year old running around).
Ben and I are 1 week away from our 20 week appointment! I could have easily asked the ultrasound tech to tell me what the sex of our baby is, but I resisted and will wait another week so that Benny and I can find out together.
Here are the ultrasound pics from yesterday.

I totally think it is a boy still. Look at that cute profile!!!

BLeSSeD~

Christmas just gets better and better the older Kai gets. Last year was fun b/c there was another member or our family to celebrate with, but now Kai gets excited and screams and plays with his toys. I can't wait to see him next year. Here are some pics from the big day...
Christmas morning 2008~

Stockings

Check out Kai's pile of gifts. I think we went a bit overboard!
Oh well, it was worth it! Kai didn't really know what to think about everything, but had a blast anyway.

I love this picture.

Kai and all his opened gifts.
Thanks everyone. He had a great Christmas!

Ben's Mom and Dad bought Kai this basketball hoop. Kai loves it, but I am afraid Ben is more excited about it than Kai is. Ben has been shooting hoops every chance he gets. He will give Kai the ball and Kai just throws it on the ground. I think it will grow on him though.
He has quite the shot and has already mastered the dunk...a true balla'.

My Mom and Dad bought Kai this tool box and he is in love with it. It probably is his favorite toy. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Ben and I found this fire truck at Target for $10. It makes sounds and Kai loves to ride around on it. He is starting to learn how to move himself around, but hasn't quite figured out how to get on it and face forward.
Best $10 we have ever spent. I LOVE Target!!!

One thing that Ben and I always do on Christmas is take everything down, put it away, and clean house. I know most people usually wait until at least the day after, but it is so nice to have a clean house on Christmas. The rooms feel bigger and there isn't stuff everywhere. Here is a picture of our living room at 3:00pm on Christmas Day. It's as if Christmas never happened...

One of my favorite things about Christmas is getting Christmas Cards in the mail. I guess it is a nice break from everyday bills.
This is our Christmas Card for 2008. Ben's Dad took the pictures when we were at a family reunion in July and my cousin, Krista, put together this cute card for us. I know I have talked about Krista in a previous post, but she is so talented and so giving. I love the Christmas Cards she put together for us this year!!!
Thanks for taking the time to help us out Krista.
This is the front of the card.

Back of card.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

So Long...Farewell....

The Coles moved back to Utah yesterday. :)
We will miss hanging out with them. No matter what we did together, we were always laughing. I am so grateful I called Kristal to watch Kai when I went back to work. I didn't know her very well prior to that phone call, but they have blessed our lives and become some of our very best friends.
We went out with some friends to have a "farewell dinner" for the Cole's. The picture below is TERRIBLE! It is too far away to even see the group, but here's the gang.

Me, Lindsay, Kristal, and baby Alexa.

I love you guys and miss you already!!!
